There has been a lot of excitement since December 1st rolled around! But I've been preparing since early November! Alot of work goes into Christmas countdown things, obviously some more than others, but we seem to have our fair share of countdown activities!
This little guy is helping us countdown each day, as our our kiss jars for Daddy (11 more days!!)
Our Christmas pockets my mom made is a few year ago is a holiday staple! This year, I decided not to do the little toys/trinkets in each pocket, but in each pocket there is a joke, Christmas activity, a bible verse from Luke, and either Sixlets or gold coins. The activities have been so fun- anything from handprint art, to christmas mural, to watching a movie, or taking a bubble bath! Each day has something exciting for us to do!!
Shed brought these Advent calendars on December 1st. Grant had been eyeing that Lego Star Wars one for weeks now and we didn't even know Imaginext ones exsisted, but they get super excited to open those each morning!
These little countdowns are all new to us this year! The tree is a Melissa and Doug that Wyatt has been playing with all November long, but he decided we should use it properly as a countdown! We made our own Advent wreath and "light" our new candle every Sunday! And our Countdown to Christmas book has little prayers and Christmas discussions, as well as a small activity for the day!
This year, I prepared a Jesse Tree activity. I remember doing that in grade school and always thought it was fun! Each day, we read a passage from the bible that correlates to the lesson/ornament each day. It starts with the story of Creation and leads up to the birth of Jesus! They have really enjoyed this so far! We have a little tree we hang our ornaments on and once Christmas Day comes, it will be fun of purposeful ornaments!
And Wyatt brought home this cute little countdown from school! He was so proud of it, he hung it up in a special place in the kitchen and its all for him!
Of course, Shed is back too and has been treating us to lots of Christmas fun (post to come!). Mornings have a lot of fun Christmas activities that make this season so special and magical, and hopefully memorable for my boys!! It has taken a lot of "behind the scene" magic to make it all come together, but so far so good!!! Can't wait to see what the next 20 days bring!!!
