Seals and Monkeys, Oh My!

Grant has loved seals since he was an itty bitty guy. He's not so itty bitty anymore, but he still LOVES seals!! And monkeys. He just loves them both! After changing his sheets one day, he decided to sort out all of his seals and monkeys so he could really admire his collection! Most of these were in his bed, some were in the toy box (he feels so bad for the animals that live in there, because if he had his way, they'd all be in his bed, but then he'd need two king size beds for them to all fit!) and some were figures that were on his bookshelf. I loved how he organized them all and then of course, posed with them, like the proud stuffed animal dad he is!! His seal and monkey collections are always growing, as those are the first stuffed animals he looks for when out and about!
(The robot thing is just a robot he built (not sure why he's in the midst of all the seals and monkeys, but with Grant, ya never know!)

Harpy Collection

Its getting kind of ridiculous how many blog posts I have about Grant's Harpy infatuation, but I just can't get over the cuteness of it all! I've written Harpy Love, Harpy, and I think one more post in my blogland that I can't remember. So what's one more!
This past weekend, my mom was in town and we went to one of our favorite antique malls in town. On our way out, I spied a little Harpy figurine (the far left) that just had to come home with us! For $2.50, we would've been crazy not to! At one of our favorite bookstores, we found a tiny harp seal stuffed animal and book set. It was just perfect for my little harpy-loving boy!!
I love all the little names he's given to each of his special Harpy's! Big Harpy: Little Cold; Medium Harpy: Little Iceberg; Tiny Harpy: Little Ice; All the Harpy figures: Harpy the 1st, Harpy the 2nd, Other Harpy the 2nd, and Big Brother Harpy.; Harpy figurine: Little Snow
I love this little boy and his little sweet spirit!!

Harpy Love

Grant has had a special place in his heart for Harp Seals since we went to Sea World the first time (evidence HERE). Well, when we got out the Christmas ornaments this weekend, I opened a box to find a whole set of Harp Seal ornaments I loved getting when I was a kid. They are some of my very favorite ornaments to hang on the tree each year, but I didn't even think about how much Grant would love them! You should've seen his face when I showed him the box!! Wish I would've had my camera at that moment!! It was love at first sight! He couldn't wait to put them on the tree!! He hung them all together so they could all be friends and "enjoy Christmas together."
I love Grant's sweet little heart! Sometimes his sweetness is shadowed by his craziness, but some things just really make his heart swell!!

Harpy

It's no secret that Grant has an infatuation with sea creatures. Ever since our first visit to Sea World 10 months ago, he's acquired a HUGE collection of sea creature toys! But, he has a few favorites. On our most recent visit to Sea World in December, he got this little box that he filled with 23 different little sea creatures (and by little I mean 1-2in). Over the span of a few days, a little harp seal, whom he cleverly named "Harpy," stole Grant's heart. This little seal went everywhere with us....until he lost him. We were getting ready for our typical evening walk, which Harpy was a great fan of, but he was no where to be found and Grant went into hysterics. So instead of going for our walk, we went to Michael's to purchase a new "toob" of arctic animals, and that was the night Harpy the 2nd came into our lives. Since then, he's been in the bathtub, the sandbox, lost in the car for 3 days, and even took a spin in the garbage disposal. Harpy the 2nd even made a new friend Seamore, another harp seal that Grant picked out at a toy store. But Harpy still wasn't forgotten and Grant would still tell the tale of how he lost Harpy. Until this weekend, when Grant came up to me and said, "I found Harpy," thinking he meant he found Harpy the 2nd in his bed or something, but I noticed this Harpy didn't have garbage disposal nicks all over him and then I realized- it was THE Harpy!! We did a little welcome home dance and Grant was very excited to introduce Harpy the 2nd and Seamore to Harpy. And then apparently their long-lost father came home and they had this wonderful reunion moment I caught on camera- no, this picture was not staged- this is exactly how Grant placed them.
