Pumpkin Patch Visits

We get SUPER excited every year when the pumpkins make their way to the church parking lots!! We try to visit them as often as possible! We like to find the fattest pumpkin, bumpiest, skinniest, tallest, tiniest! Always fun to just see God's beauty amongst the festive fun!
Our first visit was short and sweet. We had about 15 minutes before our small group, so we made a quick stop, but as we arrived, so did the rain showers. We snapped a few pics to prove we were there, but we'd have to save our scavenger hunt visit for another day!

Fast forward 5 days and we were back!! This time, it was time to search!!! We found a pumpkin that was over half the size of Wyatt!!! We imagined some amazing things we could carve into that pumpkin...if we had a chainsaw!
They were puzzled by this door to nowhere...
Baby pumpkins are always a favorite!!

Louisburg Cider Mill

After our busy day at KC Pumpkin Patch, the line for donuts was really long, so we decided to leave without donuts, which made Grant extremelly disappointed! So when I realized we had a Friday off school, we decided to head to the Louisburg Cider Mill in the morning for donuts!!! We invited Ace and Christine to come along, because its always more fun with friends!
It was cold and wet outside, but we had a great time anyway! While extremely overpriced, its a fall tradition that just can't be passed up! We played on the playgrounds, went through the corn maze (a little bit), went on a hay ride, and ate LOTS of donuts!!! Another successful year at the Cider Mill!

KC Pumpkin Patch

It's been a long time since we've been to the pumpkin patch as a family, so I made sure we got that on our calendar early on! Luckily, we picked a beautiful morning to head out to the KC Pumpkin Patch. I wanted more activities and less pumpkins since we had already bought our pumpkins at Walmart. I know, shame on me. But seriously can't beat $3 for a super huge pumpkin!! But I still wanted a fun fall experience! The KC Pumpkin Patch had so many activities, although Grant was probably on the large side for about 50% of the activities! But we still managed to have a super fun time!!

Kindergarten Field Trip!

I love a good kindie field trip!! But going to the pumpkin patch is one of my faves!! Especially when we get to go to Johnson Farms! I would never pay of our family to do that because its is SO expensive, but field trip prices are acceptable!!! They do have a ton of fun things to do, so its always a good time!!! We had so much fun with our friends, walking around the patch and looking for the perfect pumpkin!!!

Pumpkin Time!

We used our Halloween Eve to carve our pumpkins. I always seem to almost run out of time, but we squeezed it in, because no Halloween would be complete without carved pumpkins. My boys can never just settle on a typical jack-o-lantern face! They always like to scour the internet for something different and creative! So after a little browsing time, they had their ideas and I got to work. My boys really don't like to be involved in any of the carving process. The guts gross them out, as well as the smell. So I'm usually flying solo! I get the occasional, "How's it looking?" every few minutes. So when the finished product comes out, they get so excited to see it all done!
This year, they were difficult! But turned out pretty decent! Wyatt picked out a Royals pumpkin and Grant chose a monkey. For some reason, I didn't get a picture of Grant's not lit up, but you get the idea. They were cute and the boys were super happy with them!!

Wyatt's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Wyatt's school got to go on a field trip to the pumpkin patch!! Last year, they field trip got rained out, so we were giddy with excitement when we woke up to a beautiful sunny day!!! We had never been to Johnson Farms before, but I'd heard a lot of good things about it! We couldn't wait to explore! Wyatt was a little bummed he didn't get to take a bus there, the parents just drove. But we got to bring Wyatt's classmate, Sahib, with us so that made it a little more special driving there!
We got there and had a little demonstration by the owners of the farm. They talked about how pumpkins grow and how to pick a pumpkin carefully. There were quite a few other field trips going on at the same time, so we moved from activity to activity pretty quickly! They started off playing in the big play place. I'm assuming the equipment came out of a Discovery Zone from back in my day! Lots of tubes and slides and fun things to explore! I didn't get a picture of that area. Too busy playing! We moved on to the truck and sand area. They had old trucks, tractors, and fun sand areas to play in! We made a spin around the animals and saw the Three Little Pigs and a few donkeys. Then it was time to load the bus and head out to the patch! Each kiddo got to pick their very own pumpkin and Wyatt, of course, had to search and search for just the right one! And he picked the most perfect one!!
We could've spent the entire day there and I wish we would have, because we only got to experience a fraction of what they had to offer, but we had to take Sahib back to school. But I'm thankful it wasn't raining and I'm thankful for special time with my little baby boy!!

PUMPKINS!!!

The sight of pumpkins makes my heart skip a beat! I just love seeing them out on display for the first time each fall! I just love fall so much! Such vibrancy, such beautiful colors and creations! I just love it! What especially love most is seeing my fellas with pumpkins! Probably my favorite time of all year to take pictures! It was a perfect fall day to head to the local church pumpkin patch and snap some pics!
Now this is the first year we've done this, but we actually bought our carving pumpkins at Hy-Vee, because I couldn't really pass up the 2/$10 they had going on and we got some HUGE pumpkins! Sometimes a good deal wins out! But that doesn't mean we can't go to the patch and still play and admire their pumpkins!
They had some HUGE pumpkins! Like-I'm not sure I could carry them to the car- BIG!! We had fun trying to find the biggest, or the bumpiest, or the weirdest shape! We also had fun just looking cute!
 Whooooooooo goes there??

Grant, of course, had his own ideas for photoshoots. He had Wyatt hold these bitty pumpkins to his years so he could be Frankenstein! He also used a gourd as a lasso and a pumpkin as a horse to be a cowboy! That boy- loves pictures, just crazy ones!

Pumpkin head!
My cuties in the patch!! Gosh I love them! Even more then I love pumpkins!!!
