A Little Fountain Fun

It was such a beautiful day yesterday, my mom took off work early and we knew we needed to do something outside!! What could be better than SHOPPING outside?!? We walked into The Legends and the fountains were flowing like crazy! All Grant could say was "WOW," in his cute little whisper voice!! Of course, we did our shopping first while he was content in the stroller. Not to my surprise, it didn't last long. So he got out and walked the ENTIRE Legends mall- back and forth!! He got his good behavior reward by stopping at the fountain on our way out! It was a little intimidating at first, as he would only sit on my lap, and not touch! He gained a little courage and finally reached out for the water. The water was pretty chilly, so the fun didn't last long. I'm surprised he didn't want to get in the shallow water and splash around, but he was content with his little fountain fun.

Deciding if he wanted to play or not...hmmm...

Oh yeah, this IS fun!

Mr. Fix It

Grant has learned alot of things from his cousins: how to make a firetruck sound, how to tackle, where the snacks at Mimi's house are kept. But I think his favorite thing he's learned from them is how to play with the tools!!! He has a hammer back at home that he loves to bang on EVERYTHING, but he's had so much fun playing with the big basket of tools at Mimi's. Of course, my mom has a Fisher Price workbench that goes with the tools, but does he play with that? No- he plays with an upside down orange box. He loves putting the tools in the holes, sawing the sides, and hammering the top. I've emailed Levi and told him about Grant's love of tools and he recommended me getting him his own set for home so Grant can help him remodel the bathroom when he gets back!! I've got the new set of tools, but something tells me, Grant won't be much help in the remodeling department! A Daddy can dream!!

Emily's 80's Birthday Bash

One of my best friends, Emily, and I have celebrated our birthdays together for the past 9 years. My birthday is exactly one week before hers, so it gives us a good reason to celebrate with all of our friends! This year, Emily had an 80's themed party! We all look totally radical, if I do say so myself!

The shocking thing is, I got my outfit not at a thrift store, but at Forever 21!! Stirrup pants, off the shoulder shirts, cut off SHORT denim skirt- I mean, really- is that in style? Actually, nobody seemed to have trouble finding any clothes to fit the theme. I'm kind of starting to worry about the direction "what's in style" is taking! The girls looking fashionably radical!

At least he enjoyed himself!!

Deanna Rose Farmstead

Today was a beautiful day again here in Kansas! We wanted to do something fun outside with the cousins and thought Deanna Rose Farmstead sounded like a great idea! Well, apparently so did half of Kansas City because it was CROWDED!! Grant had never been there before and his eyes were as big as saucers the entire time. He was pointing at everything wanting to see it all!! Unfortunately with so many other kids there, we weren't able to do and see everything we wanted! But we all had a great time! Grant fed the goats, went down a HUGE slide, played on the jungle gym, saw ducks, horses, cows, and many many goats!! We will definitely have to go back again!! Thanks cousins for a fun day!!

Picnic on the Patio

Can't get much better than this...in April...in KS!! It was sunny, 80, and NO humidity!! A perfect day in my book!! So perfect in fact, that we decided to make a "summer" meal- hot dogs on the grill, chips and dip, pasta salad, and fruit. What a better place to have our "summer meal" than on the patio!! Grant sure did enjoy himself, although he wasn't too big a fan of hot dogs!! But he did discover a love of pears! A kid after my own heart!

I just LOVE picnics!

Of course, after a picnic on the patio, a bath is a MUST! Here's a little video of Grant brushing his teeth! He's getting to be such a big boy!!

A Car and Cousins!

I'm not used to staying at home all day. Grant and I both love going places!! Don't get me wrong- we love playing with all the toys scattered all over the floor, but we like the change in sceneries!! Since we flew from Florida, we obviously are stuck here without a car. Luckily my brother-in-law is either working from home or traveling and will let us use his car once in a while! Today was one of those days!! It was a good thing too, since Grant decided he didn't need to sleep much! So, after his so-called "nap," we went to Target- one of our favorite places to waste time (and money!!) After a short trip there, and ONLY $14 later, we were off to the cousins to play outside for the afternoon! And what a great day for that- sunny and 85...couldn't ask for better weather!! Grant just loves playing with his cousins, no matter what they're doing!

Uncle Eric lets them play in the car...Grant decided to "drive"

So many choices, so little time...
Mimi came to pick us up and snuggled with all the boys!!

My First Blog

Well, after reading some of my friend's blogs and loving all the stories, I decided I should throw another project on top of my many other activities I don't have time for! Since we don't live in KS as we would like, this is a great way for everyone to stay caught up on the latest happenings in our lives!!
So, currently, we are in KS, and by we, I mean Grant and myself. Levi has been out at sea for 3 weeks now and still has about 4 weeks to go!! He's currently aboard the USS Winston Churchill. Sounds like he stays pretty busy, but is getting some great experience out there!

We miss him terribly, but it's great to be here surrounded by friends and family! We've been able to celebrate Easter and my birthday since we've been in town, and Grant has had alot of time to play with this cousins!

Hopefully I can make this blog a habit and stay on top of it!! I will consider it my "living scrapbook," which hopefully will get more updates than my traditional one!
