February School Fun!

Holiday themed school games are still all the rage around here! I'm hoping that doesn't change anytime soon because its just so much fun!! Of course Grant never gets closet to this table, but Wyatt can still often be heard asking, "Do you want to play a school game?" We have fun and he doesn't even know he's learning. Well, I'm sure he does because he's just that smart, but at least he's smart enough to know that learning through games is the best way to learn!!
This game here he is adding red and pink hearts
Here, he is reading and sorting long vowel and short vowel words
Here he is reading and sorting CVC words
More long vowel, short vowel! I just love the footie jammies!
Using pink and red hearts to make and write words
I love my little learner and his eagerness and excitement throughout each holiday!!

Christmas School Fun!

What would we do without this little table of fun?? This has kept Wyatt busy for hours upon hours since mid-November!! We had to add some more difficult things to our selection since Mr. Smarty Pants is such a little sponge. But each of this activities has been played with over and over and aver again and I just LOVE it!! He often asks, "Do you want to play a school game?" I just love to see that he loves it all as much as I enjoy making it for him! Well, I make it for Grant to, but we all know he doesn't come near this section!
He did these activities one day while I was working on the computer. He wanted it to look like a snowflake!
And he used every single light to continue his pattern!

He loves the Tricky Triangle. He says, "It's like playing checkers against myself!"

And this one he said, "Don't you want to take my picture while we play this game? My jammies match the game board." I mean, who could resist that offer??
His favorite activities this year are Crazy 8's, Old Santa, Go Fish, Pick-a-Present, Four in a Row, and Christmas Race. I hope I hope I hope I hope he always loves to play these games with me!!!

Thanksgiving School Games

My littlest boy and his love of school work! It truly never gets old!! We have such a great time playing and learning together!! Here's a sampling of some of our favorite activities from November. We squeezed in about 2 weeks of these games, as the Christmas itch grew stronger and stronger and those took over mid-November! But we had some thanksgiving fun while it lasted!

Fall/Halloween Stuff

Oh, how we love the mid-way through September mark! It means fall is around the corner and it makes us all giddy with excitement over here! Wyatt is usually my first to ask if we can get out our Halloween decorations and activities! So we thought the first day of Fall would be a great day to get out all our games and activities and get a little festive around here!!
I think our fall games are Wyatt's favorite! He just can't get enough and I don't blame him! What's not to love about pumpkins and ghosts and games?!? We have a few fall Little People sets that the boys just adore! They like to play Farm and the tractors give hayrides to trick-or-treaters. It's quite cute to hear their play!
The halloween "school games" are Wyatt's favorite! He loves the gems, erasers, board games, etc etc. He just loves it all! We spend a good amount of our time in this area just doing what we do best!

He loves filling up the tiny halloween buckets with gems and erasers. He calls them party favors!
We made quite a few new board games this year, as he is one smart little cookie! So we had fun searching through TpT for some new free games! Catch the ghosts is a BIG hit!!! We also can't go wrong with BINGO, skip counting puzzles, and everything else really!
Wyatt helped me decorate the built-ins. I just love his ideas for where we should put things! He's got a pretty good eye!

Pumpkins at the store?? YES please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And what holiday is complete without handprint/footprint art??
And of course, don't forget the art projects! Wyatt and I made this goofy pumpkin patch! Mom, he thinks the one on the left looks like you because it has "mimi hair!" And the set below is one of those foam kits. It looks adorable, but it might be one of the most frustrating things I've ever built! But it sure looks cute on our counter!
Today is finally October 1st, and there is so much more fall fun to be had!!! I can't wait!

Easter School Fun!!

Wyatt and I were able to go through quite a few fun Easter centers this past Easter season. Oh that boy and his love of learning!! Makes me so happy!! I snapped a few of the games we played, and of course, he loved them all! His favorite activity at the moment is addition and subtraction. Most of the time he does it all mentally, but we've also been using counters of some sort to help the ones he can't do mentally. All good prep for all that kindergarten work he will be doing, 18 months from now :) But he's also a good reader and enjoys the challenge of counting how many words he can read. He's something else I tell ya!!

February School and Art

It may only be February 4th, but we've been in full swing of celebrating Valentine's Day for a few weeks now!! Lots of school, crafts, and festive fun, as usual!!
After taking down our winter decorations, my bookshelves were missing cute kid art, so we had to get artsy and paint some canvases. I let the boys search my Pinterest board to find what they wanted to make and this is what they chose! I was surprised Grant chose this one since it was so detailed. I just love how cute and colorful it is!! Wyatt had fun dotting his canvas and made the cutest masterpiece!

Wyatt loves learncreatelove.com and after making about everything on there for Christmas, he had to find whatever was available for Valentine's Day. He did the painting, I did the cutting, he did the gluing. Pretty cute little guys!
Wyatt and I have been having a ton of fun working on the centers I put together. Our morning time after we take Grant to school is so fun for both of us! His excitement and enthusiasm for learning just melts my heart!!!
Soring medial vowel sounds in his CVC words.
 Spelling and writing CVC words
Setting up pink and red heart math equations. His new favorite hobby is doing addition problems!
Sight Word race. He's beat me 10 out of 10 times. He said it's because I always let him go first, but next time I get to go first! Sweetie pie!
Roll and Cover. He takes his dice behind his back to his "labratory" to do his adding then turns around and shouts out his answer! He's such a treat! :)
And it wouldn't be February without our wafer cookies!! Cute and delicious!!!
10 more days til Valentine's Day! I wonder what other fun we will have?!!?

January Business

January has been a pretty low-key month for us, which has been so great!! We've had lots of time to stay home and play! Which is good because the majority of this month has been FREEZING!! We've had lots of free time in the basement to put all those Christmas presents to good use! Seriously, the basement looks like this 98% of the time...

It's a great problem to have!! I'm just happy we have another couch upstairs to sit on because this one is obviously not used for sitting anymore!! While the boys have been happily playing, I've been reorganizing the house, cleaning out closets, and just cleaning in general. The three of us can make some pretty large messes in a fairly short amount of time! Wow! I'm always cleaning or doing laundry. Like ALWAYS!!!
I put together some January centers over break and Wyatt and I have busted those out on our mornings after we take Grant to school/before Wyatt leaves for school. I absolutely LOVE those 20 minutes I have with him. He is just the sweetest little student and I love that he LOVES doing these types of things! He's so cute, I just have to take his picture all the time, so I have like a thousand of them in my phone. Seriously, I do! These are some treasured moments!

Can we take a moment and be amazed that we got Grant to play with us (one day after school)!?! We both were amazed that Grant asked us to play 2 games with him!! Miracles do happen people!!
