Tooth Fairy Visit #2: Wyatt

We had tickets to the Royals game but didn't know what other special thing would be happening that night! After downing a tray of Nachos, Wyatt looked over at me and said, "Is my tooth bleeding?" Sure enough, it was not only bleeding, but the tooth was dangling! I ran to get some clean napkins, he did one little yank, and Wyatt officially lost his 2nd tooth during the 2nd inning!! That was almost the most exciting play of the game!! He was so proud (and so relieved) to have that little wiggler out of there!!
I took this picture just before he ate his nachos and I'm so glad I did!
His permanent tooth was already growing behind the baby tooth, so while he has two missing teeth, his new teeth were already there and waiting!
It was about 11:45 when we got home, so no time to write the Tooth Fairy a note, but we put it in his heart container (still containing his first tooth) in hopes that the Tooth Fairy wouldn't take his 2nd tooth. And she didn't, but she did leave him two $1 bills and two quarters.

Tooth Fairy Visit #1: Wyatt

I knew my days were limited with Wyatt's baby smile when I saw a permanent tooth trying to sneak in behind his baby teeth! (Don't mind his freshly lunched teeth ;-))
So I was doing my best to capture his baby smile as often as possible because I knew it was going to be gone shortly. He hated the process of having a loose tooth. We tried a numerous times to pull it out because it just bothered him so much to have it wiggly in there. We tried a Nerf gun and floss, we tried twisting, we tried pulling. It just wasn't ready until it was ready...

And then on June 7th, it was ready and Wyatt lost his first tooth! We just came home from SBO and were having lunch when he bit into a strawberry and dislodged his tooth! He pulled it out himself and was SO excited! Definitely a little nervous too because he couldn't tell if it was strawberry juice or blood (both) but I assured him everything was just fine!!
He was so excited to put his tooth in a special place! We have this little Precious Moments heart container that Grant uses when he loses a tooth. So he put it inside and wrote the Tooth Fairy this note.

She even responded with the tiniest note of her own...
He earned a $5 bill for that first tooth! Special day!!

Tooth Fairy #8

After school, Grant was running around outside with his friends and came running over to me saying, "How bad is it?" He showed me his mouth with a bloody tooth, but it was still hanging in there! I said, "Just pull it out and get it over with!" Ha, like that would ever happen!!! I knew it wouldn't last much longer though! Surprisingly, this was loose tooth #5 but it seemed to hang in there longer than the other teeth!
So last night, while I was at dinner with some friends, I get this text message from Levi with this picture:
"Look what just happened!"
Tooth #8 popped on out of there- FINALLY!!! I'm not quite sure what he was doing, or how it happened, but it was finally out of there! And now my big fellas has 4 gaping holes in his mouth! And he looks SO old!! So far his permanent teeth are looking pretty darn good!!
Look at that handsome smile!

Tooth Fairy #7

Just a few short weeks after tooth #6 fell out, tooth #7 was ready for his turn!! Walking home from school this day, Clyde was outside so the boys ran over to say hello. He said he had a treat for them, so he went inside and came back out with an ice cream bar! Such a sweet man- thankful to have him as our neighbor! The boys quickly ran home to enjoy their treat! As soon as Grant bit into his ice cream, his tooth literally popped out of his mouth and bounced onto the counter!
Tooth #7 was gone, just like that!!

Tooth Fairy left him a $5 bill! Somehow, she must never be fully prepared for what she leaves Grant because its been something different every time! ;-)

Tooth Fairy Visit #6

Grant hasn't lost a tooth since June 23rd LAST YEAR!!! Can't believe its been so long!
He had been trying to pull a fast one on me for a few days saying, "I lost my tooth!" I'd respond with, "You did???" Then he'd say, "No, April Fools." Would've been a good joke, but it was mid-March!!!! So after a few times of him doing it, I kind of ignored it. Sure, the tooth was dangling by a thread and it could fall out any day, but he's been known to leave a tooth like that in there for much longer periods of time.
One morning, while brushing before school, he shouts from the bathroom, "I lost me tooth!" Levi and I went on with our conversation and didn't miss a beat- until he ran into our bedroom with a mouth full of blood and a tooth in his hand! Guess the story about the Boy who cried "Wolf!" is true!!
I was so excited that the darn thing had finally fallen out!!
See that little hole on the bottom right?

He wrote this little note to the Tooth Fairy and set his tooth his little heart dish and put the lid on it!
He woke up to a $2 bill, a $1 bill, and 4 quarters. Tooth Fairy must've been cleaning out her change wallet!
I have a feeling tooth #7 and #8 aren't too far behind!

Tooth Fairy Visit #5

Grant lost his 5th tooth!! It has been very wiggly for a very long time. But he definitely wouldn't wiggle it, and he sure as heck wouldn't let me touch it! So one evening while I was out to dinner with my friends, my mom sent me this picture! I knew it was a matter of time before it fell out! But after the picture came the text that said "Grant pulled it out himself!" I guess it was literally hanging forward in his mouth and he said if he left it like that, people would think he'd look disgusting, so he yanked it out! I think he shocked himself a little bit that he could actually do it!
The tooth fairy came that night and left him 3 dollar bills and a Sacajawea. Pretty exciting time for this big buy!!

Generations of Toothless

I found a stack of old photos the other day and I was looking through them, only to notice one of them was from the day I lost BOTH my top teeth!! This just so happened to be a few days after Grant just lost both his top teeth!! I loved the comparison! I don't always see any resemblance between Grant and myself, nor Grant and Levi. Most people see resemblance between him and Levi, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone say he looks like me! Although in these pictures, I can see it!! My picture was probably taken almost exactly 27 years prior, as I'm pretty sure I lost both my teeth on my 7th birthday!

The day Grant lost his last top tooth!
The day I lost both my top teeth!
 Comparison picture!!
Usually Grant has a much squintier-eyed smile like I do in my picture, but this one was a "smile for me" picture and he never does a true smile when I say that! But its still enough for me to see the resemblance between me and him!!! And I love that!!

Tooth Fairy Visit #4

Well, I guess my 19 day guess was wrong! We only had to wait 5 days after the first top tooth fell out for the other one to follow!! Thank goodness the snaggletooth is gone!!!
Grant has had a funny pattern when losing teeth:
Tooth #1- Eating chocolate pudding at TRex cafe
Tooth #2- Eating a french fry at Red Robin
Tooth #3- Playing outside on the tree swing
Tooth #4- Playing outside on the trampoline
I guess he likes to lose pairs of teeth the same way!! Wonder when/where his next pair will fall out??

Tooth Fairy Visit #3

It's been quite a while since Grant lost a tooth! I'm pretty sure his top teeth have been loose for MONTHS now, but he will not ever ever ever ever wiggle or it even think about pulling it out! So they've just dangled there for too long!! Finally, one of them fell out!! Grant and Wyatt were swinging on the circle swing, which they like to do together. As Grant was on, Wyatt tried hopping on his lap and wound up kneeing him in the mouth and popping his tooth out. FINALLY!! I was inside at the kitchen sink and I saw them running in, like they were on a mission. And as I turned around to tell them to go back outside, I see Grant's bloody mouth and a teeny tiny tooth he's holding out on his palm and he says, "I lost my tooth!" He's still weirded out and grossed out by the fact he has a gaping hole in his mouth and another tooth just dangling there by a thread!
Before bed, he put his teeny tiny tooth in one of his little treasure boxes so the Tooth Fairy would've have to dig under his pillow for it! He wrote her a little note and happily went to sleep!!

It must've been his lucky night because he scored a $5 bill from the tooth fairy! I explained to him that she must not have had any dollar bills on hand ;-)  He even found a few spots of glitter on his money! Pretty awesome find!!!
Now, I'm placing bets on how long his it takes before his "dangler" brings another visit from the Tooth Fairy. I'm giving it 19 more days.

Tooth Fairy Visit #2

Grant has had a wiggly tooth for weeks now!! And the last week or two, this tooth was just hanging. How it didn't fall out earlier, I'm not sure. But it finally fell out on Tuesday this week! We were at Red Robin having dinner and as he bites into his french fry, he said, "I got it!" I was like, "You got what??" And he said, "My tooth. I got my tooth out!!!" So he spit his wad of french fry into my hand (gross, I know!) and I dug through it to find that teeny tiny tooth!! He ran to the bathroom to look at himself in the mirror!! He was so happy!! (Obviously by looking at the picture, you can tell that permanent tooth wasn't waiting his turn!) So we got a to-go sauce cup and lid and put the baby tooth in there since it was sooooo tiny. To top off our dinner, it was Kids Eat Free night AND balloon animal night! Triple score!! He declared this "The Best Evening Ever."

And the tooth fairy left a $1 bill and 4 quarters! He put it all into his spending folder in his allowance book!!

Tooth Fairy Visit #1

This smile is forever changed. And this mama can't get over it!
Grant lost his first tooth while we were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge! We knew it was coming but how it came about was unexpected.
Rewind a few weeks prior when Grant was complaining of his tooth hurting. I freaked out thinking it was a cavity, but once I looked at what he was talking about, I noticed his permanent tooth was poking through right behind his baby tooth. His baby tooth wasn't the least bit wiggly, so I made an appointment at the dentist. They took an Xray and told us that it should fall out by itself any day since it had no root left. I thought they were crazy because it wasn't the least bit wiggly and since Grant wasn't going to wiggle it (it totally disgusts him) I thought for sure we'd have to make a return trip to the dentist to get it pulled. Well, sure enough within a short time it started to get very wiggly. And before we knew it, it fell out.
We were eating dinner at the T-Rex Cafe. Grant enjoyed some dino nuggets and french fries and wanted a Chocolate Tarpit (chocolate pudding with crushed Oreos and gummy dinos on top). He gobbled up his gummies, and crunched up the Oreos and was halfway through his pudding, when he pulls something out of his mouth. I thought, great something nasty is in his food and he will never again eat chocolate pudding. It was his tooth! It came out while he was eating chocolate pudding!!!!! Of all things!!
So we wrapped the tooth in a sugar packet wrapper so we wouldn't lost it!

We got back to our hotel room and Grant couldn't wait to put his tooth under his pillow. But since we were staying at the hotel and he was sleeping on the top bunk bed there, I was a little worried about the tooth (and the Tooth Fairy surprises) falling out from under his pillow to an unreachable place. Grant is kind of a crazy sleeper afterall! So on the little window ledge on his bed, he left this note with his teeny tiny tooth...
And when he woke up in the morning, he found his surprises- 4 dollar bills, 4 quarters, and one Great Wolf Lodge coin! I guess the Tooth Fairy was feeling extra generous because it was such a special occasion!!
I just can't believe Grant's sweet smile is changing! I'm not ready for the big tooth grin on my little baby boy!! But it was an exciting day and I'm so happy that such a special moment in his life happened when we were all together!!!
