January Artwork

So I didn't get around to December artwork, sadly. But thankfully I loved it all so much I'm keeping it either in their scrapbook or I'm going to laminate it to hang up for many Christmas's to come. Yes, I'm that mom! So what!! 

But the boys did bring home some pretty cool stuff from January too!

 Wyatt's snowman makes me laugh!! He always tries so hard to make things look perfect!

 And Grant...well, he tries to make everything he makes just silly!! I think he was successful!

 They enjoyed learning how to fold paper and cute snowflakes. Wyatt was less than impressed with his and said he just needs more practice. "Maybe next year" he says!

 One of Grant's favorite Bible stories! He's been waiting all year to do this craft! It's double sided!

And Grant, of course, LOVES his walrus!

One of the weeks in January is dedicated to Gingerbread week! They have a fun Gingerbread hunt around the church and school looking for the Gingerbread Boy and they finish the day by decorating their own gingerbread cookie! Such a special week and a fun tradition!

 Wyatt made a roll of Yarn and Grant made a basket of Yarn for Y week!

They also made Yo-Yo's.

 And these are random pieces, the bird by Wyatt and the Quilt by Grant. Not sure why they don't each have one, but oh wel!

 And this was actually done one morning in church by Wyatt. For some reason, he didn't want to be dropped off at Sunday School, so he sat with us during the service. He wrote his whole alphabet. You might not be able to find all the letters in a row, but I assure you, they are there!

I wonder how many childhood scrapbooks the boys will deem necessary when they have a family of their own. Because at the rate I'm going (or want to go!), they're going to need a room in their house just dedicated to their scrapbook collection their mom made them over the years. I'm ok with that!

January Instagram

I've said it once (or twice) and I'll say it again, but thank heavens for my iPhone! The month of January left me feeling very scatter brained and I am so thankful that, although my good camera didn't get much use, my iPhone did, which left me with lots of little memory snapshots!! So since not much of January was shared, here is a glimpse into what did happen....

 Grant and his animals at bedtime- you never know what you'll see! Daddy and Wyatt sleeping during a KU game- what?!?  Wyatt got to ride his bike one chilly afternoon. Grant and Wyatt looking cool in their Tony Hawk gear. Snow play outside!!

 Wyatt got Fifth's Disease and had the rosiest cheeks! Grant and I did lots of Lego building! Old Papa sent Grant this raccoon picture that Gigi painted many years ago. The boys were balling it up! Wyatt and Grant playing Flight Commander at Levi's work. Grant got blood drawn (everything is ok!) and he loved showing off his "cast."

Unfortunately, looks like this is another month where not much blogging will take place. Thank heavens for my iPhone! I don't think I will ever say that too many times!!

Bad Blogger!!!

So January is almost over and I have posted twice this month. TWICE!!! I think its safe to say I'm in a rut. I don't know why, but this month has been taken over with this, that, and everything else!! In fact, I've only used my camera like two or three times this month! Luckily I have my phone...I'll at least do a photo dump the end of the month...well, I guess that's like tomorrow!

Ok, so what have we been doing this month?? Well, school has been in full effect! Grant continues to go to speech, occupational therapy, and a psychologist each week, totaling 4 appointments EACH WEEK. He's doing soooo great! While I'm on the topic- he started a music therapy through his OT and that has made tremendous gains in his energy level. He'd get so much bottled up energy and he would spin like a top, but this has really helped get him to calm down, which has been AWESOME! In fact, he was so calm last week, I kept asking if he felt alright!! So that's been a blessed change! But that takes up certain times of our day, where I have to be focused on certain activities with him....usually Legos, puzzles, or board games. But its safe to say we are busy with all that! The boys had a small bout of Fifth's Disease, which left us at a few doctor appointments and two days out of school for Wyatt. They never felt bad, so I'm thankful that they have been healthy overall!

Let's see, what else....I started doing physical therapy for my hip. I've been seeing dr. after dr. and getting procedure after procedure to try and figure out why I feel like an 80 year old! So I'm doing that 2-3 times a week while the boys are at school! So far so good...I think I feel 79 now! I hosted the spouse social this month at my house with my friend Courtni! It was a great evening chatting with all the Dragon Ladies!!

We're trying to do some fun art activities and projects! We made snow playdoh, chocolate playdoh, did some Valentine's crafts, and I'm currently working on their school Valentine's as well as their birthday invitations. Levi still works a good 12 hours each day, so that always adds to the busyness it seems! We are hoping sometime within the next month he will pass on the Flight Commander position to another not-so lucky fellow! Although, I have to brag on him really quick- he earned Flight Commander of the Quarter in December, as well as Flight of the Month! Pretty prestigious honor if I do say so! But we are hoping for a less time-consuming squadron job soon!

Otherwise, I can't say we've had too many other engagements, so I'm not sure why this month has seemed busier than previous months. I feel like everyday chores- laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning- are all left to the wayside but are always tapping me on the shoulder waiting to be addressed! On my wish-to-do-list is to publish my 2012-2013 blog book (really, 2012? yes...), get up to date on my photo scrapbook (I think I'm on 2009...), get up to date on their art scrapbook, and knock out some fun photos and posts this February!! Crossing my fingers that at least some of that gets done!

We do have some big changes coming up, which I will elaborate on soon, so I know things may get crazier before they slow down...if they ever slow down! Maybe I need to start drinking coffee...or Red Bull....or...who knows what!!! But what I don't want to do is take this precious time with my little boys for granted. They are getting bigger each and every day and I want to make sure I capture them at this moment because I know I'm going to blink and they'll be teenagers one of these days! But for now, I'll leave you with this adorable picture of my still 5 year old and 3 year old...I won't be able to say that much longer!

Riding and Shoveling

As far as January weather usually goes, we've had a mild one!! We've been in the 50s and even 60s somedays! Granted, lots of those days, the wind is just about as strong as the temperatures, but we've managed to sneak outside to play every now and again! One afternoon, the boys got to playing and it made me so happy to see them entertained and playing together so nicely! We've been cooped up inside so often, they haven't been playing together as well. I don't know why...but this day seemed to be the perfect recipe for them to play outside!!!

And then headed onto digging in the dirt. Actually, they said they were gold mining. Grant has watched Gold Rush with Levi and I a few times, so they got into a good game of that!! They were so funny!! They'd shout to each other, "I got a thirteen ouncer over here!" "We need twenty hundred ounces more!" Funny guys!

It will be a sad day when we move away and have to leave all this wonderful land and red dirt behind!! Now, we are counting down the days til spring!! Although a good snow at some point would be really nice too!!

Winter Preschool Program

Well, its January 19 and I'm just getting around to my first blog post of 2014! I think that says a little something about the way this year is going to go!! I hope to stay afloat and make it through, capturing life's little moments along the way!!

On January 16th, the boys had their Winter Preschool Program! We missed out on Grant's last year due to illness. Well, actually we could've made the first one, but the rest of the class was sick, so they rescheduled....to a day that Grant was sick! Bummer!!! But we were healthy (well, minus the Fifths Disease the boys had earlier in the week, luckily not contagious anymore) and excited to watch them perform! They were so excited all week, talking about standing on the risers and using microphones! They were so cute!! Mimi came, and so did Grandma and Grandpa, which made them all the more excited!!

The boys brought home this adorable invitation earlier in the week and they couldn't wait to share it with Mimi and Grandma and Grandpa when they came!

They were so excited to be wearing belts!! And Grant was thrilled to be wearing a tie!

Once they got to school, they went to their seats to prepare for lining up! Grant was so excited to stand on the top riser! Wyatt, of course, was on the bottom riser, front and center. I think Grant was about the tallest in the class and I think Wyatt is the shortest in the class, kinda funny! As soon as Grant walked up there, he looked out in the audience for us, and as soon as he spotted us, he waved and blew kisses and double waved and blew more kisses. He was hilarious!!!! He actually did that through the ENTIRE program! Wyatt smiled and waved a few times, but he was very concerned about his shirt coming untucked because he wanted to make sure everyone could see his belt. So the more the he waved, the more his shirt came untucked. He got super into singing during the program, so he didn't look for us too much more!

 They just sang their little hearts out and made such a joyful noise!! We could hear Wyatt all the way to our seats! He was so animated!! Grant was too- so much so, in fact, that Ms. Lori said Luke (who was standing next to Grant) was worried that Grant was going to knock him off the risers! oops...what can I say, our boys love to perform!!

They sang so many of their songs and poems and had a little pictures slideshow! It was just the cutest thing ever!! I most definitely will be getting my hands on a DVD of it so I can watch it and smile for the rest of my life! I literally had tears in my eyes the entire show, not from crying, but from laughing and smiling! My boys just light up my life! 

Afterwards, we of course had to do a photo opp!! These sweet friends adore each other!!

 And these boys LOVE going to school together!!!

 And we wish we could take Ms. Terry with us to school for the rest of our lives!!!! We love her, as well as Ms. Aimee and Ms. Olivia!! We are so blessed to send our fellas to a wonderful school!!! 

 Now we are looking forward to the Spring Preschool Program! And I have a sad feeling it will be here before we know it!!!!
