Wyatt's Last Day of PreK

Wyatt's an old pro when it comes to preschool- three years strong!!! But how lucky we've been for him to learn and grown in such wonderful, encouraging environments! But it is definitely time for this kid to move on to Kindergarten, although if he had his way, he's move on to 2nd grade with Grant (and I'm pretty sure he'd hold his own!)

His last day of school consisted of a little program, followed by an Ice Cream Social. I will surely miss their sweet little songs that come along with preschool! He is always so "in the zone" when he's up there singing his songs! Sweet boy!! It was a great time celebrating such a momentous milestone!

Not a doubt in my mind that Wyatt will do amazing things in his life! He is smart, responsible, kind, and a great leader!! I pray that as he moves on to big school, he will walk confidently and proud of the boy God made him to be! We sure are proud of him!!

Wyatt's Thanksgiving Feast

Wyatt had his last Thanksgiving feast at school as a preschooler! Hard to believe we've been able to see him perform at Thanksgiving at preschool for three years now! His school does some adorable songs and poems for their program. Last year he was an Native American, so he was excited to be a Pilgrim this year! After the songs are finished, we all make our way to the big room for a yummy Thanksgiving feast! Since Wyatt's class did all the grocery shopping for the feast, they also got to prepare some of the food. They made cranberry sauce and corn muffins, neither of which he actually ate during the feast, but he sure pointed out that he made them! Such a special little celebration!

 He feasted on popcorn, carrots, and cupcakes. So traditional, right?!

And then after our feast, we headed to have a real lunch with Daddy on his lunch break since he couldn't join us!

Price Chopper Field Trip

Wyatt got to go on a very special field trip! The two pre-k classes each took a trip to Price Chopper to shop for food for the school Thanksgiving Feast. They prepared their lists earlier in the week. We had a tour guide at the store to help us find all our items. One of his classmates wasn't there, so it was the four students, a few of us parents, and Mrs. Moyer.  Mrs. Moyer was so good about letting each child get the same amount of items to put in their basket. Of course, Wyatt kept track too because that's just the kind of kid he is. He follows his list and checks it twice!

 After we found all our items, the store manager took the kids in the back and showed them the stock room. They also got to watch the box crusher in action. I don't know if it was the fact that there were only the 4 kids or if it was really that boring, but they didn't seem to bat an eyelash at that contraption. The manager said the morning bunch (which has 12 kids!) was all about the box crusher!

Then it was time to head up to the register to pay. They each took turns taking items out of the basket.

 After our groceries were bagged and paid for, we went over to the cafe area for cookies and apple juice! That was probably the most fun I've had at the grocery store for quite some time!!

Wyatt's Halloween Party

Wyatt's little class had a parade and party of their very own!! They are the only afternoon class at the preschool, so their parade and party was a very low key event! But it didn't stop them from having fun! They paraded around the church office and then into the big room for the parents to see! Then Mrs. Moyer led them in some adorable Halloween songs. Wyatt is so funny during these performances- he is so serious and has to do every action just so. He tries not to smile at us because we are so distracting! He's a riot!! So they sang their adorable songs and that was that! They usually do their party activities and snacks without parents, so we snapped a few pictures and headed on our way so they could enjoy the rest of their afternoon!

Wyatt's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Wyatt's school got to go on a field trip to the pumpkin patch!! Last year, they field trip got rained out, so we were giddy with excitement when we woke up to a beautiful sunny day!!! We had never been to Johnson Farms before, but I'd heard a lot of good things about it! We couldn't wait to explore! Wyatt was a little bummed he didn't get to take a bus there, the parents just drove. But we got to bring Wyatt's classmate, Sahib, with us so that made it a little more special driving there!

We got there and had a little demonstration by the owners of the farm. They talked about how pumpkins grow and how to pick a pumpkin carefully. There were quite a few other field trips going on at the same time, so we moved from activity to activity pretty quickly! They started off playing in the big play place. I'm assuming the equipment came out of a Discovery Zone from back in my day! Lots of tubes and slides and fun things to explore! I didn't get a picture of that area. Too busy playing! We moved on to the truck and sand area. They had old trucks, tractors, and fun sand areas to play in! We made a spin around the animals and saw the Three Little Pigs and a few donkeys. Then it was time to load the bus and head out to the patch! Each kiddo got to pick their very own pumpkin and Wyatt, of course, had to search and search for just the right one! And he picked the most perfect one!!

We could've spent the entire day there and I wish we would have, because we only got to experience a fraction of what they had to offer, but we had to take Sahib back to school. But I'm thankful it wasn't raining and I'm thankful for special time with my little baby boy!! 

First Day of Pre-K!

We made the decision to hold Wyatt back a year from Kindergarten just as we did with Grant. We didn't have the same circumstances we had with Grant, but being their birthdays are the way they are, we felt it was best to keep them 2 grades apart. Although Wyatt could probably head onto first grade this year and hold his own just fine!! But the fact that Grant started school is early August, Wyatt was counting down the days til it was his turn to head back to school!

So finally, on the afternoon of September 2, we headed up to meet his teacher and give his classroom a once over. Although he has a different teacher than last year, his classroom is still the same. And instead of morning preschool, he is in the afternoon class. So lots of changes, yet still lots of familiarity!!
September 3rd was his first real day of school. He had picked out his outfit for the first day of school back in July. He wore it sparingly this summer because he just wanted it to be safe and perfect his first day! He was so funny- every time he hung his clothes up, he would make sure this shirt was front and center. And whenever he put his shorts away, he always put them to the farthest spot in his drawer so they wouldn't get mixed up. Nothing was going to stop him from wearing this outfit!
I know Pre-K for him will be a breeze for him, he just loves school so much, I know he will have a great year!! As I write this post, he is on his 4th day of school and he just can't wait to go each and every day. He comes home with a backpack full of artwork and coloring pages- apparently during center time he spends every second in the art center drawing and writing and creating!!!
Wyatt, we are so proud of the special boy you are! Work hard, be kind, and light up the room with your smile!! We love you big guy!

Wyatt's Last Day of Preschool

Wyatt LOVES school, and that is not an exaggeration! When we've been out and about and people ask him if he's excited about summer vacation, he crosses his arms and says, "No, I love going to school!" So his last day of preschool was bittersweet!! We are going to thorougly enjoy our summer, but he will also miss the fun and excitement of preschool each day! He had an AMAZING year!! He matured a lot, grew physically, worked hard on just about everything he tried! He adored his teacher, Mrs. Albrecht, and all his little classmates! He had 8 kids in class, 5 being girls. One of the boys, Kelvin, he enjoyed playing with on occasion, but he said he was bossy alot. So I could imagine most of the time, he was following Mrs. Albrecht playing teachers assistant. She said she could always count on him to keep them on track for the day and he never let her forget anything they had planned to do!! 

To celebrate the last day of school, they had a little program followed by an ice cream sundae celebration! They sang a handful of adorable songs, which I also love!! Their little voices are such a joyful noise!

He was all about whip cream, cherries, and sprinkles on his ice cream! 

 His teacher, Mrs. Albrecht, was just the most perfect teacher he could've asked for this year!! He loved her dearly!

 I had just come from Grant's field day where I was a sticky icky mess, but I still couldn't pass up a selfie with my sweetie!!

Levi and I have made the decision to send him to preschool for one more year, just as we did with Grant. Even though he's smart as a whip, and can totally hang in elementary school without problem, we are so thankful we made that choice for Grant, so we know we will be thankful giving that to Wyatt as well. He will have three full years of preschool under his belt before going to Kindergarten! That's crazy to think! But we know that will set him up for success and confidence for years to come! He will go to the 5 year old pre-k class at his current preschool. So that means he gets to go Mon-Thurs, which is sooo exciting for him! Until then, I have to keep him busy reading, writing, and doing math- all upon his request!! You should've seen his face when I pulled out his summer school notebook- it was like Christmas!!! Love my preschool buddy!!

Wyatt's Preschool Field Trip

Wyatt had been counting the days for WEEKS leading up to his field trip!! His field trip to the pumpkin patch got rained out back in October, which was a HUGE bummer! So when word of a spring field trip came about, he was checking the calendar every day, literally counting the days! He was so excited to go to the park just down the street from our house. How we haven't been there yet since we moved here is astonishing to me, as we drive past it about everyday. So he said, "We FINALLY get to go to that park instead of just drive by it!" It had rained for about 5 straight days leading up to the field trip, but the morning of as sunny and dry- but it was 50 degrees!!! So we had to bundle up for our spring field trip!! But the kids didn't seem to mind- they had so much fun running and playing!! Wyatt likes the kids in his class, but his two favorite friends, Clara and Leo, were in a different class. He was so happy to get the chance to run and play for a long time with those two! After a good hour and a half of playtime, they had a picnic lunch, and then we were free to leave. We stayed for a little while longer, as Wyatt just couldn't leave his friends quite yet!!  It was quite a fun morning!!

Parent Presents

I am totally obsessed with my kids art work, and I'm not ashamed to admit I decorate my house with it! What's not to love?!? Handmade with love? Yes please!!! I always look forward to seeing what little presents the kids bring home from school. The last two years, at Oakwood, the boys brought home little photo ornaments of some sort. But this year, we scored big!!! Grant brought home a hand colored pot holder, a piece of word art with our family names and this magnificent canvas! They made these the morning of their party and I love love love LOVE it!! I love that I can have it up all winter long! Obviously the only thing he actually did on their were the footprints and writing his name- the other room mom decorated them all. But its a pricless work of art in my book!

And Wyatt- well, he brought his present home in early December and barely made it to the driveway before opening it up for him. He used some self-constraint and waited til after we got Grant and as soon as we walked through the door, he had me sit in front of the Christmas tree and open it up. I was blown away by his little masterpiece! He explained how he painted all of it, down to the last little detail- even the swirly snowflake. Apparently, he thought it was glitter glue he was putting on there, so once he dotted it, he swirled it around, only to find out it was just white paint. So he calls it the blowing snowflake. I think its quite VanGogh-esque! I just love this little thing so much!!  

Two priceless works of art I will proudly display each and every year from now until forever!!!
