Date Day with Grant

Before school starts, I always like to take the boys out for a special date, one on one! Wyatt was at a birthday party, so it was the perfect occasion for Grant and I to have our date! He had been asking to try cheesecake for a while, so we thought we should do an afternoon snack date at Cheesecake Factory! He was blown away by how fancy the restaurant looked! We sat down and looked over the cheesecake menu and he was so overwhelmed with the choices, he didn't know what to choose! So, we got the chocolate chocolate cheesecakes (don't remember the actual name but it had chocolate in like 5 different places) and the cookie dough cheesecake. I am so glad I got a video of him trying the chocolate cheesecake for the first time- hilarious how much he loved it!!!! That one was definitely his favorite! It was so great spending that time with him, especially trying something new! After cheesecake, we went to Mardel to pick up a few things for my preschool, which he loves helping me shop for! It was the perfect date afternoon with my biggest fella!

Date Morning with Wyatt

The day before school started, we had BIG plans! Date morning with Wyatt, a birthday party to attend in the afternoon and date afternoon with Grant! So much excitement! Wyatt chose to go to Chuck E Cheese for his date morning. We went right when it opened, in hopes of beating any "day before school starts" crowd there might be! We got super lucky because we were the ONLY ones there, PLUS we got all the free tickets from them turning the machines on and giving them a test run! We hit the jackpot (well, figuratively speaking!). We got the run of the place and had a great time playing games against each other and collecting as many tickets as possible!! We were able to collect 300 tickets, so we had some decisions to make when it came time to prizes! It was tough, but a game and glasses were the final decision! So after we spent our tickets, we sat down at a booth and played our game he chose!!After we left CEC, we made a swing by QuikTrip for a slushie!  I just love that little man so much!

Grant and Mommy Movie Date

Grant and I have gone to see most of the Disney Nature movies when they come out each year. He loves them all, especially if a monkey is one of the characters!! This year, the movie was Born in China and he'd been wanting to see it since we first saw the preview a few months prior! So we picked a time, and made a date! To the movies we go!
We practically had the whole theater to ourselves! We were able to snuggle and giggle as loud as we want!! And we did- that monkey TaoTao was hilarious and oh so cute! Grant asked for a Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey as we were walking out!
I love special date time with my big fella!

Build a Bear Date with Grant

Time got away from us this summer and we ran out of time for date nights! So a few days before school started, Grant and I snuck away for a little date day at Build a Bear. Wyatt and I did that earlier in the summer and that was on Grant's list to do when it was his turn! So that's exactly what we did!
He has a soft spot in his heart for his soft friends! Picking one out is about as hard as picking out a pet to buy or adopt. It becomes a family member to him. So after much deliberation, and an explanation to how much our budget is, he made his final decision! A soft and cuddly teddy bear!
He filled his heart with every characteristic, just like him!
He added his fluff, but not too much. At one point, he told her to stop and she said, "Well, he doesn't have any stuffing in his belly yet." He said that was ok- that's how Cuddles is and he LOVES that about Cuddles- but he said it was ok to keep going. So after a little bit more fluff, he gave him a snuggle test and thought he felt just right!
We went to name him and what better name than Snuggles! He and Cuddles will be best friends! Grant picked out a Star Wars tshirt and a blue backpack, so he could dress him for school when he got home. I just love this kid!!

I love that my big guy still loves his little animals!!! So much so, that he had to buckle him in the car on the way home, just to make sure he stayed safe!
Snuggles has made a perfect new addition to our family!

Build a Bear

On the night Grant went to the Royals game, Wyatt and I took the opportunity to have a special night together. I thought and thought and thought of something special for us to do that did not involve a trip to Toys R Us. The weather was iffy and wasn't a great night for us to do an outside activity (thankfully it never rained so the game didn't get rained out!). A friend suggested Build a Bear, and since I found a coupon for that, I thought it would be a great activity for us! The boys have been there twice, but always with Mimi, so it was going to be a fun experience for us to enjoy together. The boys treat their stuffed friends like a real family member, so it was a pretty big deal!
Making sure his new friend's heart has all the right things...
And then filling him full of fluff...
And deciding on his name...instead of an accessory, he picked out the little blue bear as his new friend's little brother...
And introducing our new family members, Blue Bear and Softie!
Time to bring them to their new home!!

Date Night with Wyatt

After having a date night with Grant a few weeks prior, Wyatt was not-so-patiently waiting his turn for our next date! Wyatt got to spend the night at Mimi's house and go to work with her the next day back when I went to Kaleidoscope for Grant's field trip. Grant had been begging for his turn to go to work with Mimi, so that left Wyatt and I to have almost 24 hours together!
We started with dinner by the fire at Panera, one of his favorite places. He has to get mac and cheese, a pumpkin muffin, and a bagel with veggie cream cheese! We usually share all three and it works out perfectly!!!
Then, as with all our other typical dates, we ended up at Toys R Us! Wyatt made a beeline to the Legos and picked out a small set to bring home to Grant. I tell ya, the kid has a heart of gold!!!! I told him he could pick something out for him too, he had no idea what to get! I just love that he thought of Grant first!! Love that sweet guy!! So after wandering up and down about every aisle, he finally decided on something that he'd had his eye on for over a year now!
And then we came home to play with it of course!!
And since this little guy doesn't remember what its like to sleep in a room alone, he didn't want to attempt! Thankful for this little toddler bed that still fits him so perfectly!!

The next morning, we snuggled and watched some TV. Cleaned the pool- he makes an adorable pool boys- ran a few errands, and then hit up open gym!

Shortly after, we met back up at Mimi's and our duo became a trio once again!! I love our special times alone together!!

Date Night with Grant

Grant and I had a very special opportunity to go in a fun date! Wyatt was spending the night at Mimi and PawPaw's, because the next day, I would be attending an all day field trip with Grant, so Wyatt was going to go to work with Mimi. So we took the chance to go do something special once we dropped him off. We headed to the movie theater and bought two tickets to Monkey Kingdom and a big bag of popcorn and candy!! We were so excited when the movie began and we were the ONLY two people in the theater!!! We were able to talk, laugh, be silly, and do whatever we pleased!!! The movie was adorable and was made just for Grant, I think! I mean, a movie about monkeys doing silly things?? That's pretty much Grant in a nutshell!! Special times with my special boy!!!
